History

Realty Management Associates, Inc. was formed in 1983 as a venture between affiliates of Kansas City Southern Industries, Inc. (KCSI) and the management arm of National Realty Services, Inc. During 1983 and 1984, the company was involved in the syndication of fourteen residential properties, raising approximately $25 million through ten offerings of limited partnership interests, using primarily broker dealers associated with KCSI. As a result of changes in federal tax laws in 1984 and 1985, the company began to diversify into the development business, with condominium developments in Hilton Head, South Carolina; Longboat Key, Florida; and Reston, Virginia. These developments were organized as joint ventures with local developers, with KCSI providing loan guarantees in order to obtain one hundred percent acquisition and development financing.

Realty Management Associates, Inc. was established as an independent entity in 1986 as a result of the acquisition of its assets from National Realty Services. Realty Management Associates, Inc. is a diversified real estate investment company which is involved in a variety of activities, including the development, property management, ownership, and operation of office buildings, shopping centers, and multifamily housing properties.

From its headquarters in Chantilly, Virginia, Realty Management Associates, Inc. maintains a network of professionals located in various offices in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Regions who are skilled in all aspects of real estate services and enhancements.
